hi, i'm jacques
About
I'm Jacques Bronkhorst, a principal engineer. By day I build enterprise-grade .NET — high-throughput distributed services, the kind of systems that are supposed to be invisible. By night I run a home lab that is the exact opposite of invisible.
This blog is where the two worlds meet. Expect deep dives on AI and where it actually earns its keep, opinionated notes on .NET and system design, the occasional home-lab rabbit hole, and a healthy dose of "I can't believe that worked." It's written with a dry sense of humour and a bias toward boring, reliable systems.
What I care about
- Software that's boring in production — predictable, observable, hard to surprise.
- AI with guardrails: small capabilities, audited tools, hard budgets.
- Automations that fail quiet instead of failing loud.
- Writing things down so the next person (often future me) has it easier.
